Reviews:
I own several cigar box guitars – some I built – some I bought – usually fretted four strings that I mando tune. I wanted a three string for slide – I liked that this had a disk with a slide technique lesson. I was more than pleased – as an instrument, it's as good as most any CBG – they are all pretty crude at best. This one was easy to assemble – holds tune – sounds good acoustic or electric. There were some comments on it not using an actual cigar box, but a factory-made stylized resonator box. While this is true, it is at least as good as a cigar box, and I can understand why they broke that way for consistency and ease of build (which as I said, was super easy). Aesthetically, most people would probably prefer a real cigar box, but come on – it's like a uke – cheesy is part of the shtick. The lesson is good – play along CD and a book – comes with a good glass slide. I recommend it – worth the list price – all the better with the discounts.JoeFromSD
This is a great way to learn slide guitar. It is small & easy to learn. The book is full of great info. The CD is great, with back tracks, A tuning track so you do not need to buy a tuner, as long as you have something to play the CD in. It would be a good idea to buy a cheep tuner. As far as the price you just can't beat it. You can buy one for any wear from under $20.00 to $59.95. you just have to look around for a good price. Even at $30.00 to $ 40.00 is well worth it. The sound of the guitar very good and a small amp helps the sound but is not a must. Also you can take this any ware. In all this is a great product and was well thought out. Plus it is just fun to play!!handcuff123
I wanted a three string cigar box guitar and between a black friday discount and backstage pass points, I couldn't pass this up. Some reviewers complain that it's cardboard but domestic cigar boxes are predominantly cardboard. Also, Fender recently built a cardboard Strat that couldn't be told from a "real" Strat in a blind test. Build time was about ten minutes. I ran the strings around the tuners contrary to the directions so the string paths were straight. Sounds great acoustic and also great amplified. The only thing lacking is markers on the side of the neck. Maybe not sturdy enough for roughneck kids but a good introduction to the cigar box genre. Nice slide included.Mike

Reviews:
Obviously whoever builds he's builds a guitars craftsmanship is awesomerowlowmotorcycle
This guitar feels great in the hand, and is fun to play. However, it is extremely cheaply made and will likely not last long. The neck is horizontal to the body, giving reduced string clearance, and while the box edges are nicely dovetailed, the back and face are so thin, that they might be made of pressed board. There is a truss rod in the neck, but it connects to a small block of wood that's lodged in the body, so is not structurally that useful. There are no struts that cross the width within the body. This feels great and is fun to play, sounding a little tinny but not terrible if you manage the sound. I really wanted to keep it and play it as it felt so good, but I wanted something to last more than six months. It is a very cheap guitar and is built very cheaply. I asked a luthier if any parts of the guitar were salvageable if it broke, and his response was 'no'. I bet this review isn't posted – it's the second one I've written, and the first one was pulled.crumbs2a

This CBG ismade in China, it say this nowhere on this site or anywhere else. Many fret ends were unpolished and hurt the palm of my hand. The pickup system is weak and noisy. The neck contour and finger board is playable. The sound is fair for a resonator. The biggest problem is they put a thin veneer cover plate on the back to access the electronics, a disaster waiting to happen and the pictures did not show this. The cover plate is very thin and could crack easily or be pried over time by snagging on a shirt. The best part was the dealer shipped fast and readily accepted the return due to the condition of this CBG.Mark

Reviews:
Overall: I own several guitars and play a few styles. I've always wanted an Ibanez as its a "super-Strat", but bever pulled the trigger. Satriani is a big influence on me and love his axes. So I finally decided to get one.Why did I wait so long? This thing is easier to play than my Fender Strat, lighter than my Epi Les Paul and I'm not going to need to upgrade it like I did my Epi SG. Out of the box, I as blown away with its design and simple beauty. That flamed maple top!!! After tuning I ran it through some places. Holy $h@&! A little cleaning, a quick string change a light set up and boom! Best $400 I've spent since my Les Paul, and more fun to play!!
Overall: I am now in my 2nd day of ownership and I decided to set this extremely light and sexy purple (blemished) have not found one …down long enuff to read reviews.and ya if I could find something about it I dont like… well havent!. What's there not to love at the reasonable price and the abilities this ax possesses. 5way and quantum is a nice pxkge.what. would one expect? At fraction of the price on those high dollar "others".. I feel pretty smart these days not emptying my wallet and can say. The wizard neck is so sweet jatoba fretboard is not only beautiful sustain harmonics….for days….VERY NICE..zZOUNDS AND IBANEZ….THANK YOU FOR. A GREAT DEAL ON A KEEPER….OH YEA AND WHY UPGRADE ANYTHING SEEMS TOVDEFEATCYHE PURPOSE AND UNNECESSARY IN MY OPINION. BUT IM A TIGHTWAD.been a member of the ibz family for awhile and they never stop making great products with reasonable pricing.Kenneth
This (and the blue with rosewood/hardtail) are my first Ibanezes. I mostly play strats and Les Pauls. As I understand it, these have been referred to as Super Strats, because of the double cutaway and the HH. The blue has a matching headstock and a five tone switch. The neck is the most comfortable I've played, the strings are evenly spaced and there's plenty of room for your fingers, even at the top. The satin finished body has the same feel as the neck and it weighs around 6 pounds. After I found the dragon eye (reverse matching headstock, maple fretboard and whammy) at the same price, I couldn't let go of the blue, so now I have two. I'm playing them through my Boss Katana, and it's a good match. Gotta say, it's a totally new guitar playing experience, and the only question is which one to pick up first. If you're thinking about an Ibanez, this would be the one (or two).Rich at the Beach
7. Schecter Damien Platinum 6 Floyd Rose Electric Guitar Satin Black
Product Details:
The schecter damien platinum 6 electric guitar with floyd rose has a double-cutaway mahogany body, set 3-pc maple neck, and a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard. it's loaded with the classic combination of an emg-81 active humbucker in the bridge position and an emg-85 active humbucker in the neck position for all the heavy rock tones you need. grover tuning machines with a floyd rose special double-locking tremolo bridge allow for massive tremolo effects, as well as total tuning stability and tonal sustain. the electric guitar's appointments include bat inlays, multi-ply fretboard and body binding, and satin chrome hardware. grover tuners – rotomatics? with 18:1 gear ratio (102-18 series) the original rotomatic? with an improved higher ratio gearing. the 18:1 ratio provides for finer tuning and greater stability. the finer gears provide smoother tuning and a higher degree of backlash elimination rosewood fingerboard – the most common fretboard, rosewood is naturally oily, and works well for any surface that sees frequent human contact. the sound is richer in fundamental than maple because the stray overtones are absorbed into the oily pores. emg active 81/85 pickups – one of the most popular emgs the 81 is the one that started a revolution. utilizing powerful ceramic magnets and close aperture coils, the tone was designed with detailed intensity, incredible amounts of high end cut and fluid sustain. traditionally used in the bridge position, this pickup will make your leads slice right through even the densest mix. when used in both neck and bridge positions the sound can only be described as blistering. recommended pairings include the classic 81/85 setup. 3-pc maple neck – made with 3 pieces of maple for extra stability. 3 piece necks can withstand the test of time. where standard necks may show aging defects from temperature and moisture changes throughout the years, the 3 piece neck will stay nice and straight for a lifetime of playability. – construction: set neck with ultra access available bodies: mahogany neck: 3-pc maple fingerboard: rosewood frets: 24x jumbo inlay: platinum bats bindings: platinum multi-ply tuners: grover pickups: emg active 81/85 electronics: volume/tone/3-way available bridges: floyd rose special scale: 25.5" hardware: satin chrome

Reviews:
Sound: The sound is absolutely great, I like metal and this is great for that.and it's great in any pickup settings, it goes from mild to wild with the flip of the toggle, has two styles of sustain, feedback, and a slower buildup for a different sustain, battery life is good when you turn the toggles off and disconnect the instrument cable, or it powers the EMG, Features: This for its cost has a set neck, materials are some of the best mahogany body, and if I remember the neck. Tuners work well, pickups are incredible.rosewood with bat inlays. It just looks good, and sounds better everything on this is great quality,I have always liked guitars that don't inlay the first fret, just me, but I know where the first fret is, it really throws me off. Ease of Use: This is a very easy to play guitar, even not using the big neck magnet it sounds great, the only learning curve was leaving it plugged in, when I would leave it in the stand, the floating tremolo had givin me a few problems but watching a few YouTube videos I got it down pretty fast, I listened to 1 gentlemen and he says cut all of the strings bad information there, but I got past that, bought a bunch of high E strings I would go for the tuners up top and broke a few, but, it's just remembering the fine tuners. Quality: I would have to say it's built better than guitars I own that don't have the set neck, mahogany is durable and imagine it being a collectors, item, that's 30 years, I don't see any problems with it lasting me forever, I won't sell trade. I will just play it and enjoy doing it… Value: Oh yes, I had seen one being played online, was made by another Co. And it was over 3,000.00, Schecter was giving them away. I jumped right on that once I saw it, I would never had the chance, except for you fine people at zZounds. A value yep!! Manufacturer Support: Haven't had to contact them for there problems The Wow Factor: Just looking at it makes my day, anyone that sees it admires it's mean look, the bats are very neat, looks better than grape vines, or other goofy inlays. I wouldn't pass it up because I did get to hear one that cost way more, and it didn't have the look. I love people's reaction when I activate the Sustainiac they can't put their finger on the big change in the sound.. Lots of fun Overall: I own 3 Schecter's and I have had some minor problems, that said I am partial to them, the Damien is always my first choice, it's got sound as long as that toggle is on no more getting up close to a 300 watt amp for my sustain, it works on a 20-watt practice amp. It's well made, solid, a little heavy, but so what it's a set neck, got an EMG pickup that's excellent in it's position, holds tuning well for me.The inlays are cool, it's art to me I hang it so I can admire the flat black, with the silver awesome. My only problem no paperwork there website was lacking anything, but once you figure out the tremolo good to go, I personally took of the top string locks still stays in tune, and I change tuning so much,it's better for me. Seems to be a lot of different turnings. I am about 1 1/2 hours good traffic, and have been thinking of checking out what they do there. Have to say a huge thanks to zZounds they are really good with helping a guy like me has bad credit, never a problem, I will never shop anywhere else..not that I could..Thanks to everyone that works there!!!Dean
This guitar is very awesome looking with the bat inlays , on top of it feeling great in your hands. For the price you truly Couldn't ask for a better guitar. This thing is loaded with custom pickups and Grover hardware and the emg pick ups sound awesome. It is my favorite guitar to play out of my collection. I am no professional but this thing makes me sound like one and is very easy to play. The Floyd rose is a super plus because it holds tune well and you can whammy out. All in all I would recommend this guitar to everybody but a part of me wishes I had the only one. If you don't have one your not living right, so do your self a favor. You will thank me later.Eric
I was new to guitar about a year ago and bought this sweet AXE from Sweetwater not only for its reputation but its solid build and incredible sound. This guitar has yet to disappoint and stays in tune without fail. The staff at Sweetwater check up with me regularly and continue to do so to this day. This guitar is excellent for any "Metal Head" and is in my opinion a solid purchase with a naturally deep sound. I cant do it justice just yet but it makes me sound great regardless.
8. Epiphone Wildkat With Bigsby Antique Natural

This great looking wildkat guitar is the brother of the flamkat, but once you plug this beautiful guitar in you will not want to put it down. the wildkat gives you a great sitng with the tone, but can slow it down to provide a nice dancing tone as well. the bigsby is not an add-on to this monster. it is an accessory to the great sound that is provided, but can turn and get stanky in a split second. the vintage epiphone label gives it a great vintage look that anyone would crave!

Based on the CONS people have listed here, after 55 years of playing everything from Folk to Country to Praise and Worship on everything from my first 'cross-the-border, nylon-string classical to the Big Boys' Strats and my big-bowl 1976 Balladeer, I guess I must still be tone deaf and have no feel for an instrument because I liked this guitar from the moment I saw it, felt it, played it, and heard it. Not being the most expensive guitar on the rack, I did not expect it to be perfect. But, I have been greatly and very positively surprised at how close it is to meeting my every criteria. I have a full-size hollow body that cost me a bunch more and the tone variation from Neck PUP to Bridge PUP on the Wildkat is so much better! The volume balance between the PUPs is spot on. However, I purposely did not buy the Bigsby-equipped model: not because of expected tuning issues but because I like a clean appearance and the Bigsby really loads this little guy up! And, replace the P90s with 'buckers? Wow, I bought the Wildkat SPECIFICALLY for the P90s! Seems there is no explaining differences in taste. I applaud you all for your own musical and tonal discernment and for your comments! My summary? If you are looking for a fun guitar with great sound, this is your baby!Brother Lou
I purchased the blue royale model and, there is a review for that one. Super Guitar but, the blue just didn't do it for me so I ended up selling it to a guy that loved the blue color and, he was in heaven and, he a got a nice instrument. It wasn't but a short time and, I started missing the whole guitar except the blue color so I got the wine red Wildkat, I guess I'm kind of a red guy because I have several guitars in shades of red. This wine red color is stunning and, all the chrome hardware is a perfect match. I also have a Riviera in wine red but, it has gold hardware and, this guitar is a thing of beauty in looks and sound but, lets get back to the Wildkat. The semi hollow with the P90's is what sold me in the first place. The Bigsby vibrato is very cool, in all my years of playing I never touched a Bigsby until this one and, I like it very much. I have not had any problems with tuning. With a new guitar the strings must be stretched and, retuned a few times or there will be tuning problems as the same with restringing. Also lube the string slots in the nut and bridge and, that goes for any guitar with a vibrato. I usually use a No2 lead pencil and, run it in the grooves that's it. This is a semi hollow guitar but, it comes very close to being hollow as in the picture I've posted. That's why this guitar has the sound that it does. I've played it through every amp that I have, Fender Twin Reverb to a small practice amp and, it sounds Great through every one. The electronics are a little different but, it doesn't take long to get used to it. I'm always up for a challenge anyway. I am very pleased with this guitar as I was with the blue one but, red is my color. I would highly recommend this guitar to anybody looking for that something different in a guitar as I was. I have noticed that P90's are showing up more and, more with artists on TV, videos and, in magazines, must be a reason! Give it a try, you'll be pleasantly surprised.terrygh
This is really a Great guitar. I was looking for something different, something that I didn't have. A semi hollow with P90's and a Bigsby and, a beautiful color! I had to do a little setup, the normal stuff I always do with any guitar that I own, action, a litttle truss rod tweak, slight adjustment of pickup screws, intonation was perfect, stretched the new strings a few times with retuning and, that was it. Play time! The only way I could get this guitar out of tune was to work at it. Normal playing with string bending and subtle use of the Bigsby which is the way it was meant to be used yeilded Great results and, no tuning issues. The Bigsby is meant to be used like the vibrato on the Fender Jazzmaster and Jaguar (subtle) If you're a divebomber with a vibrato get something with a Floyd Rose and, go from there. The P90's definately have a different sound than Humbuckers that's what makes them what they are. If you experience a hum or 60 cycle buzz, be sure your amp is plugged into a grounded receptacle, It does make a difference. Nice feel, Good balance, Vintage sound, these Royale Wildkats are superior made guitars. Highly recommend one if you're looking for that something different guitar. The pic that I posted looks Great but, in person it's stunning!terrygh

Reviews:
Deep acoustic body with great sound even without amplifier. The finish on this guitar is great. Has arched back and front. It has a great neck for me as I have small hands. The pickups are adequate with quite a range of sounds. Truthfully, I am not really an experienced guitar player but I have other guitars and this one is my favorite. I have had it about a year and a half and it stays in tune very well. You won't see many of these and it shows as a much more expensive guitar. I hope this helps someone toward this guitar. I recommend it wholeheartedly but I do not own any expensive guitars to compare with it. I don't have any negatives to report. For the size it is fairly light.gypsyjazzplayer

This guitar is a Swiss Army knife and REALLY works best with the helix (as though it was designed for it). If you are a traditional player with super expensive vintage gear this probably is not your thing. What makes it great is the ability to switch (and alter) any of the tones and tunings with "very" high (97/99 percent ) quality.Nicholas

Reviews:
An excellent Strat-style that punches well above its weight. For the price of a 'second guitar' or learner Stat you get a very competent piece of kit that will go as far as you want. Nice neck, reasonable frets and quality pickups together with high build quality, it was perfect out of the box, needing no further set-up. The 112v's party piece of a coil-tap on the bridge humbucker though extends its range and versatility immensely it really does give both the full SSS and HSS sound – two excellent guitars for the price of one reasonable one. Downsides? A very slight crackle on the volume pot, and using the coil tap (split) reduces the bridge output, so up the volume a bit if doing it mid-song. I can happily live with both.tim

Read a review and then saw one at GC. The tones are fantastic. Better than many of the higher end guitars I tried side by side with it. The P90 & Humbucker is a GREAT combination. Plenty of chimmy cleans and rhythms. The bridge plenty of snarl and coil splits. I've got a number of higher end guitars but I keep picking this up over and over. The necks is one of the most comfortable necks I've played. The fret edges need some work but aside its as good as it gets. Don't take my word. Try one and you will see for yourself.Ham
This guitar has amazing bang for the buck. I love the P90 and Humbucker Seymour Duncan set up along with Graph Tech saddles and Grover locking tuners for me at least makes it a winner. The only thing I don't really like is the shape as I much prefer a Telacaster shape.Reviewed by Andertons Music Co.

I purchased this to give as a gift for someone who wants to learn to play. It came just a few days after it was ordered, and I opened it up to check for any damage or missing items. I did not have any.! I went ahead and tuned it up, while I had it in hand, why not.?? Then I couldn't resist trying out the little 15 watt amp. WOW.! What a little monster.! The clean side is very nice, smooth, and clear.! It brings out the balance in the pick-ups.. And the Distoration side is just as WOW.! I WAS SO IMPRESSED, that I ordered one for my-self, in the RED.! I have been playing on and off for nearly fourty years, and only recently had an Acoustic/Electric from Fender, which I love. It has a sound and feel that is all it's own..! BUT this Electric Guitar is just awsome.! It can do screamin rips, and clean country as easy as any guitar I've ever played. It not too heavy, but is a solid body guitar which is good. It should hold up for many years of playing, or just playing around.! I highly recomend this guitar set, and if you can get it on sale a good hard case completes the set..!
Never expect good quality if you can get an entire set for a low price. High E string can't even withstand a 1/2 bend at 17th fret. It's a giant scam, the only things that are okay are the whammy bar and the picks. Not to mention the plug cable broke after only 50 days and the amp buzzes all the time. This is why I extremely dislike Yamaha's music products.
My son saved his money to purchase this pack. He could hardly wait the few days for it's arrival. He has had no prior guitar experience. He persuaded me to place the order as this would be an elective class for his homeschooling. I had my reservations. He did not play his PS4 for an entire week after receiving his GigMaker pack! He loves it and I am amazed at how well his is learning how to play it. I am extremely happy that his video gaming has taken a back seat to his love for this guitar.KLM
14. Ibanez Thbb10 Tim Henson Signature Black Electric Guitar
Product Details:
Contemporary guitar virtuoso tim henson needed a guitar to match polyphia's outrageous musical style. the thbb10 certainly does the trick. it's a real head-turner thanks to its classy black finish and gold hardware. ibanez guitars are usually sleek and edgy, but the thbb10 takes it to a new level. it's built of a sturdy basswood body with a roasted maple neck and fingerboard. these are darker in colour than your standard maple as they undergo a torrefaction process. embedded are striking abalone inlays and 24 jumbo frets, making movement across the fingerboard effortless. the thbb10 is a truly unique sounding guitar. it houses three tim henson signature dimarzio notorious pickups, two of which are single coil in the neck and middle positions. the mini humbucker in the bridge is hot, but not excessively high output. this provides a balance and clarity when playing leads and produces punchy mids performing rhythm. tim's single coil tones are gritty and break up like a vintage guitar, especially with both the middle and neck pickups active. they can also clean up nicely and ring through chords spectacularly true.

Reviews:
I found myself instantly playing this axe all the time, having switched over from my previous 2 Monoprice strats that I was playing all the time. Monoprice guitars are so cheap that instead of changing strings, I just buy more guitars. No, really. Unfortunately in the case of this latest new black Les Paul copy, I found the high E and B strings were both buzzing and even muting on the first fret due to the slots in the nut being cut too deep, so the strings were just laying down on the first fret. That made open chords sound incomplete, and the open strings did not ring out properly. Also not sure if I might have a wiring issue, occasional cutouts of sound when I move it around, and also one of the volume knobs has some weird signal cutout down near the low volumes. Still, I'm giving this black Les Paul copy 4 stars, because it sounds very good and is such a pleasure to play that I just can't put it down. I have temporarily fixed the nut slot issue by folding several layers of aluminum foil into a small, thicker multi-layer sheet, that holds the B and high E strings sufficiently high to avoid string buzz or muting on that first fret. Love this guitar but either during manufacture in China or "setup" by the "Luthier" here in California, someone cut that nut wrong.Douglas
Beautiful looking, flawless finish, and great price. There is a lot of string buzzing, mostly from the 1st fret, though, so I don't consider this to have been set up properly, as advertised. I will need to have a local luthier work on it, which I am told will cost $140, although I am calling around for another quote. As far as the design, I wish it had a pick guard (cream colored would be nice), because I can see already that I am making fine scratches on the top. If you sold a kit for adding a correct size pick guard to the arched top, I would buy it.GILLIAN

Reviews:
I've built several of these diddley bow kits and they're historically authentic, with the exception of using a new guitar tuner instead of a bent nail or whittled tuner. A cigar box makes a great resonator and these diddley bows sound nice and loud. These kits are just a little more involved than the C. B. Gitty "Pure & Simple" kit (also sold on Musician's Friend: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/guitars/c.b.-gitty-cigar-box-pure-simple-3-string-slide-guitar-kit). You'll need to cut a hole for the neck to go in…but it's still a very easy instrument to build. Great for pedagogy. The guitar is played with a slide (provided) and is a great way to learn the slide guitar concept. Blind Willie Johnson started out on a one-string "diddley bow" cigar box guitar and used a pocketknife for a slide. He developed his unique slide style from learning songs on a single string. It's a process heard time and again from many old blues legends.Shane S.
17. Indio By Monoprice Retro Classic Electric Guitar With Gig Bag
Product Details:
Music is fun. music is exciting. music helps children grow and makes them smarter. practicing the guitar can be less than fun sometimes. our indio classic electric guitars remove the barriers that make kids want to quit. available in your choice of several finishes and styles, our indio classic electric guitars offer great tone at an amazing value. playability, sound, and build quality is all that matters. this is a great guitar, built for musicians, but priced right for beginners. whether you're just getting started on guitar or need a good second instrument as a backup or for use with alternate tunings, the indio retro classic is a solid instrument. plus, you can safely take it to lessons, rehearsals, or gigs with the included gig bag.
Reviews:
Got the newer retro classic with 3 saddle bridge. Is a great value and equal to squier bullets for half the price. The newer indio needed a little work, but so did two squiers i have bought. The indio had rough fret ends and nut was a little tall. Sanded fret ends and sanded the bottom of the nut to reduce the height. Tuners are not smooth turning but stays in tune really well. Will remind again my squier bullets both needed much more work than this indio. Have sold both bullets and kept the indios. The indio plays great and is really slinky. I guess due to top load bridge. Indios are probably the best value out there.Travis
The guitar is surprisingly good considering the very low price. It did have one significant issue though that would make me hesitant to recommend it to a beginning guitar player. I'll start with the good stuff. The basic build of the guitar is very good. The finish is well done. The neck pocket is a good fit. The tuners are good. The nut was cut well. The included gig bag is similar to those I've seen selling in the $30-$50 range so it's a great value too. The electronics and pickups are the typical cheap and generic components that you find on guitars in the sub $200 price range. They aren't terrible though. The bridge design on mine is different than what was pictured. This doesn't matter to me but it does seem to vary. The bad thing on the guitar was the fret edges. I checked the level on the frets using a fret rocker and found them good but the edges were very rough. Since I do guitar tech work as a side gig, this was easy for me to fix but a beginning player might find this to be an issue.New User
This is a fantastic guitar for any beginner or someone who wants to see if a Telecaster is for them or to mod or even just to play. I've got Mexican and American Fenders and have had lower end Squiers. I'd say this guitar is the equal of the Bullet line but costs considerably less. The finish is flawless, electronics are fine, tuners are good and the neck is decent. The biggest problem I have with the guitar is the very small frets (not tall at all) and the sharpness of fret ends. The fretboard is listed as being rosewood but it's more likely what is called "engineered rosewood". It looks good and I like it but could be a little smoother. Buyers should note that Fender parts are not totally interchangeable. For instance, the neck plate is a different size so if you're planning to swap necks be aware. The pickguard holes and shape are not the same as Fender's, nor are the holes drilled appropriately for Fender's tuners. The ferrules fall out the back of the body when changing strings which is ridiculous and if you look in the holes you will notice that they are not drilled straight through the body. It appears the front and back of the body are actually two separate pieces of wood glued together with holes for strings drilled separately and they don't line up properly. That is unbelievably bad but you can still insert the strings so it doesn't negatively impact much. I would definitely buy this again and I'm even contemplating getting another.Steve
