MARCH 21-25: NEXTAID BRINGS CONSCIOUS FUN TO MIAMI

Mar 20, 2007 10:03 AM

NextAid, a humanitarian organization that provides relief to children orphaned by AIDS in Africa, returns to Miami this year for a week of events.

With an increased focus, demonstrable signs of progress and a renewed sense of urgency, NextAid, with the support of DJs and industry leaders, is currently building a sustainable center in Dennilton, South Africa, to support children and their communities affected by the AIDS pandemic. The project broke ground in the summer of 2005 with a team headed by ecoarchitect Joseph Kennedy. To date, NextAid has completed seven buildings, trained local builders in ecofriendly construction techniques and helped get funding for small business development. Children and adult volunteers are already utilizing the community center on a daily basis.
