Underground Resistance Comes to Remix Hotel Miami!
Feb 26, 2009 8:33 PM
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see Mark Flash, De’Sean Jones and Atlantis of Underground Resistance offer practical applications and performance techniques in three special master classes in the National Hotel Oval Ballroom at Remix Hotel Miami 2009.
Mark Flash Numark NS7 Showcase: Thursday, March 26, 6 p.m.
UR’s Flash will show off the Korg Zero8 DJ mixer. In addition to demonstrating top features, Flash will throw down a live DJ with the new system.
Merging house, techno and funk, Mark Flash is one of the few DJ/producers who can legitimately play an instrument and read music—he's not looking to bore you with psuedointellectualism. He wants to make you move. He defines his production style as “loud and funky.”
De’Sean Jones Akai EWI Session: Friday, March 27, 7:30 p.m.
In what is sure to be a first for Remix Hotel, Jones will show audiences Akai’s Electronic Wind Instrument and its applications in house and techno music.
Since the age of 16, Jones has worked in Detroit and around the world, performing with acclaimed artists and acts such as the Gerald Wilson Orchestra, Marcus Belgrave, Chick Corea, the Christian McBride Band, KiKi Sheard, Karen Clark Sheard, Dorinda Clark Cole, Lisa Page Brooks, Yolanda Adams, Lawrence Williams, Regina Carter, Sean Jones, Galaxy 2 Galaxy and many more.
Atlantis Numark NuVJ & ArKaos GrandVJ Demo: Saturday, March 28, 6 p.m.
Utilizing Numark’s NuVJ controller and the corresponding GrandVJ software, Atlantis will demonstrate how he blends film clips, photos and digital video to create a “live” visual accompaniment to musical performance.
Cornelius “Atlantis” Harris has been called the voice of Underground Resistance, first as the label’s promotions rep and, later, label manager. He has gone on to take many roles in UR, acting as MC for the UR live shows and handling the visuals for Galaxy 2 Galaxy and Model 500. Atlantis used the NuVJ exclusively for Model 500 performances during its spring 2008 tour of Europe and Japan, as well as for Galaxy 2 Galaxy’s Japan debut at the 2008 Metamorphose Festival.
These classes are open to daily or weekend All Access pass holders only. Get your pass now!
