Report: Remix Hotel Miami Day 3

Apr 1, 2008 8:27 PM, Erin Hutton

Although most weather reports forecast showers for this weekend, we survived yet another hot, precipitation-free day here at Remix Hotel Miami—and we also triumphed over yet another visit from the Miami fire marshal. We’re nearly on a first-name basis with the fire marshal at this point, as he’s been here numerous times during the past three days to monitor our attendance levels (and shut down the door). We’ve seriously been at capacity the entire time. We’re sorry if you didn’t get in today. Blame security. Or the fire marshal.

For those of you who did get in, wow, what a day! Saturday marked the final day of Technology Partner exhibits, and the cabanas and exhibit areas were packed with all-star talent during the home stretch. Premier Technology Partner Apple brought in King Britt, Steve Angello and Talib Kweli for VIP Logic Sessions while Richard Devine and Stryke rocked the Stanton cabana, and DJs Big Wiz and K-N-S showed off Scratch Live in Rane and Serato’s cabana. (That’s just a taste of what went on with our Partners, though, so stay tuned to this site for comprehensive video coverage of the event.)

Beatport once again hosted a killer party poolside at The National, and today no doubt belonged to Richie Hawtin. Ever the chameleon (he has long hair and a beard these days; remember when used to be bald with glasses?), Hawtin delivered a pounding set to a rabid audience—perhaps even more jazzed because they were lucky enough to get through the line outside. Fortunately for everyone, Beatport allowed Hawtin to play a longer set than usual. Rumor has it that some Remix folks even danced on the side of the stage. But don’t tell anyone.

Three days down, one to go. Tomorrow is all about the Beatport Pool Party, as we bid adieu to our awesome Technology Partners. Hopefully, they’ll all have time to catch some sets by the pool or chill on the beach. That’s where we’ll be.
