Report: Remix Hotel Miami Day 1
Mar 28, 2008 12:17 AM, Markkus Rovito
It's midnight in Miami, but the first day of Remix Hotel rages on. While legends in the dance-music world filled the daylight hours, the opening-night afterparty kicked off at 9 p.m. with sets from DJ Papi Love, Richard Devine, Carmen Rizzo and Eclectic Method.
Even though Remix Hotel is still the No. 1 destination for gaining music-production and technology knowledge during the annual Winter Music Conference, it's also becoming the hottest day party in South Beach. Lines to get into the National Hotel stretched down the block, as music producers, DJs and fans flocked to witness the keynote interview with Paul van Dyk in the Apple Theater and take in gear demos from the likes of Vincent di Pasquale (Apogee and Euphonix), Junior Sanchez (Rane and Serato) and DJ Hapa (Native Instruments).
As always, Beatport stage rocked all day long with banging DJ sets from such luminaries as Deadmau5, James Zabiela, Francois K, DJ Dan and John Acquaviva. Day 2, Friday, promises to be even more insane as we gear up the thousands of Remix Hotel Miami revelers for a big sleep-deprived weekend.
