Apr 17, 2007 2:34 PM
For the second year in a row, top audio professionals convene at the Village Recorder to share their tips and tricks for making great home-studio recordings, as well as teaching the essentials to creating a successful career in audio engineering. This two-day interactive conference—May 19-20, 2007—offers insight from industry pros working with top artists, including Prince and Stevie Wonder. The conference is sponsored by The Village Recorder along with GC Pro, Monster Cable, Glyph Tech, Blue Sky International, the NARAS Producers & Engineers Wing and Jan-Al Cases. The event will be moderated by comedian/actor/studio owner, Sinbad.
The conference's brainchild is that of engineer and consultant, David Hampton. For over 25 years, Hampton has contributed to the success of many top artists. Through his company MATK Corp, he specializes in dedicated support services for all entertainment related activities. Hampton has designed studios for Herbie Hancock, Marcus Miller, Rafael Saadiq, Maxwell and Jonathan Butler, to name a few. He recently completed the restoration of Paisley Park Studios for Prince.
Among other conference participants are Grammy Award-winning engineers Khaliq Glover (Prince), Ralph Sutton (Stevie Wonder), producer/arranger Darrell Diaz (Herbie Hancock), Al Ramirez, Conley Abrams III, Clarence McDonald and Eric Zobler.
The event takes place Saturday, May 19, 12-7 p.m. and Sunday, May 20, 12-8 p.m. at the Village Recorder in West Los Angeles (1616 Butler Ave., West Los Angeles, CA 90025). All event attendees will receive gift bags and a chance drawing opportunity to win free studio time, gear and more!
