Established: In 1999 by Jason Whittington, a longtime music-industry executive, in L.A.

Artists: Tha Fruitbat, Homo Erectus, Horse Noodles, Chachi Jones, Two a.m.

(2001); Various Artists, LunaticWorks, Vol. 2: Who's in Charge? (2001); Various Artists, LunaticWorks, Vol. 3: Loaded Music for Loaded Minds (2003)

Manifesto: “LunaticWorks is all about the music,” Whittington says. “LunaticWorks is an independent record label with major distribution and experience, and it was formed to allow an outlet for creative, home-produced music. I think the real credibility of the label is its individual releases.”

A&R Philosophy: “All of the music released thus far has been from random submissions,” Whittington continues. “We encourage demos, five songs maximum on either CD or MiniDisc, and do our best to respond to each submission. Please go to www.lunaticworks.com for information about where to send your unsigned, unpublished music. Come to the asylum, and join the LunaticWorks family. We want your music.”

Upcoming: Look out for releases from Two a.m. and Homo Erectus, as well as another possible compilation, this year.
