STYLE (according to Geist): “The common denominators of space, emotion, funk and detail are always present in our releases. We try to make music that will last. We aspire to make records like those that have inspired us.”
MANIFESTO (according to Geist): “Environ was created for the typical reasons: independence, to have a creative outlet and to make our own rules. It's developed into a tight little family with a lot of cross-fertilization of ideas even though the projects and producers each have distinct identities.”
A&R PHILOSOPHY (according to Geist): “Environ is always looking for new artists. In this age of easier access to electronic-music-making tools, the ratio of great dance music to uninspired pap is skewing more and more toward the latter. We're looking for quality music that is innovative, soulful, forward-thinking and obviously has a lot of effort and love put into it — just like the best records from the past.”
