EVENTIDE H8000
EFFECTS PROCESSOR
Eventide brings its famed Ultra-Harmonizer effects processor into the 21st century with a new 8-channel version, the H8000 ($5,995). The H8000 provides more than 1,000 of Eventide's best presets of the past 30 years in an 8-channel AES/EBU and ADAT unit. The H8000 also provides 24-bit stereo S/PDIF digital I/O, as well as more than 80 presets for 5.1 — some with as high as a 96kHz sampling rate. Some of the premier Eventide presets in the H8000 include reverb and chorus, multiband compression, micro pitch shifting, vocoder, phase shifting, vibrato and modulating delay, FM panners and sample-and-hold filters. In addition, the H8000 is a sampler with 174 seconds mono or 87 seconds stereo sampling capabilities. The sampler includes tools for looping, editing and layering. As its name implies, the new Harmonizer sports the trademark UltraShifter, Eventide's finest formant-correcting automatic pitch changer, which is optimized for voice. Analog audio I/O is provided on fully balanced XLR and ¼-inch TRS jacks with a signal-to-noise ratio rated at greater than 110 dB.

M-AUDIO NOVA
CONDENSER MIC
Using its slightly older siblings Luna and Solaris as a quality blueprint, the new Nova ($129.95) cardioid studio condenser microphone from M-Audio looks to redefine the Class A microphone price point. Housed inside Nova is a 1.1-inch evaporated-gold diaphragm mounted in a solid brass capsule, with Class A solid-state electronics throughout. Nova is designed to be a multipurpose mic with low noise, distortion and coloration characteristics. The mic boasts a frequency range of 20 Hz to 18 kHz and a sensitivity rating of 16 mV/Pa. The maximum SPL level of the mic is rated at 128 dB. The housing is sturdy and attractive, with the wire mesh grille and body made of all brass with silver nickel plating. You can have your cake and eat it, too: Nova is sold complete with a sturdy shockmount and a soft carrying case.

ECLER NUO5
DJ MIXER/EFFECTS PROCESSOR
The Nuo5 (price TBA) is Ecler's latest creation: a 5-stereo-channel DJ mixer with a built-in programmable computer remote-controllable digital effects processor. Nuo5 connects to PCs via USB and includes Edi:lab_1.0 software for editing all 12 effects. The mixer features five stereo channels controlled by VCA 60mm faders, each with a fade curve selector. The I/O section includes four phono, six line, one auxiliary and one microphone input. Outputs are on balanced XLR connectors. Each channel offers a 3-band EQ with Bass Off switches, effects send, signal present and peak indicators. The effects section includes an LFO, manual highpass and lowpass filters, delay, reverb, pitch, flanger, phaser, filtered echo, echo reverb and flanger echo. MIDI Output is provided for clock, start and stop functions. Nuo5 is crowned by Ecler's award-winning Eternal crossfader, which features cut-in-time and fade-shape controls, and it boasts a five-year warranty. An internal switching power supply with a universal input provides 90 to 260V for international usage.
