FIREWIRE AUDIO/MIDI INTERFACE

New from Presonus is the FireStudio Tube, a 24-bit/96 kHz FireWire Audio/MIDI Interface that ups the ante by including two cool SuperChannels. A combination of a Class A vacuum tube mic/instrument preamplifier and a full-featured analog limiter, the SuperChannels round out the other eight XMAX mic pres and six balanced TRS line inputs for a total of 16 simultaneous inputs, plus full MIDI I/O. Using the newest JetPLL Sync for serious jitter control with vastly improved imaging, and new high-res A/D/A converters with a 114 dB dynamic range, the FireStudio Tube is ready to provide both analog “tube” tone and precise audio fidelity at a comfortable balance. The built-in FireControl DSP mixer/router lets you create up to four customized zero-latency monitor mixes without taxing your computer, and the included ProPak software bundle includes Cubase LE and a host of plug-ins and loops/samples to get you going.

Now the company is expanding the line quite a bit with the release of the new AE Compact Series. All eight new models sport rotating Progressive Transition waveguides, so they will not only work horizontally or vertically but also will deliver low-distortion, uniform off-axis frequency response to the entire coverage area for improved field control and intelligible details. The totally customizable interface is fully MIDI keyboard mappable and includes a complete effect library, multi-camera support and simultaneous playback/synthesis mode for combining internally created visuals with your video clips in QuickTime, MPEG 2, MPEG 4, Windows Media or Flash text/animation formats. With high-resolution output, support for multi-core CPUs and cross-platform compatibility, Grand VJ is ready for anyone. What's more, it comes equipped with full ReWire support, so you can easily sequence it from your favorite ReWire-compatible DAW.
