CD Review: Midfield General, General Disarray (Skint)

Nov 25, 2008 4:56 PM

All tidied up
It took MG alter-ego Damian Harris eight years from his debut, 2000's Generalisation, to wrap this one up, but it's a unified package that leans as much on humor as music, as evidenced by the first track's title, "Self Referencing Intro." Well-groomed yet grimy techno beats play in the street alongside guest vocalists from MC ADE to distinctive-voiced actor Ralph Brown; first single "Disco Sirens" opens with air-raid-worthy wails, while the robot of "Bass Mechanic" has plenty of dancefloor moves. Finally, "Error" offers a potpourri of techno sounds, and the set wraps neatly back with "Self Referencing Refrain."—Kristi Kates [3.5 out of 5 stars]
