CD Review: AK1200 and Gridlok, Autopsy (Project Fifty-One)

Drum 'n' bass will never die
Autopsy is the East Coast/West Coast drum 'n' bass team of AK1200 and Gridlok. Disc one, Examination, collects Gridlok's Project Fifty-One imprint's back catalog, jointly mixed by Ableton Live. Displaying notable bite as one of America's foremost producers of the genre, Gridlok shows his formidable teeth on "Labrat." Elsewhere, Upbeats and Teknik throw some sass into metallic-sounding rhythms on "Poison." Disc two, The Diagnosis, is new material. While this half is mainly dry, the collaboration between Origin, LA Riots and George Clinton on "Only Love" is deep down and dirty with its blend of genres.—Lily Moayeri [3.5 out of 5 stars]
