March 15-16: The Viper Room at SXSW

Feb 7, 2007 2:50 PM

The Viper Room is making the trek from Hollywood to Austin once again, transporting its Sunset Strip music experience to SXSW 2007. On March 15 and 16, the venue will take over the Apple Bar (125 5th St., Austin)—a 400 indoor/outdoor capacity location—with confirmed shows from Valient Thorr, The Ringers, Oliver Future, Dirty Sweet, The Ruse and more.

This year's Viper Room at SXSW—sponsored by Monster Energy Drink, BC Ethic and more companies to be announced—will feature some of the club's most prominent acts, who are guaranteed to pack the house. The first night kicks off with performances from Valient Thorr, the legendary Venusian rock 'n' rollers; The Ringers, Austin expatriates whom have hit it big with their LA career at the Viper; Big Bang, a big bad whirlwind of raw, overdriven rock 'n' roll that landed the opening slot on the Raconteurs' U.K tour last year after Meg White spotted them at the Viper; and LA faves Hello Stranger, featuring Joachim Cooder, son of Ry.

The second night will feature stellar sets from Austin natives Oliver Future, who are now Viper Room regulars; Dirty Sweet, another Viper favorite whose music is steeped in classic-rock chords with modern-day edge; The Ruse, whose haunting compositions have been dazzling audiences at the Viper since arriving from New York in 2005; and the luminous Stars of Track and Field whose shoegazery approach has been taking the indie landscape by storm.

Schedule is as follows:

THURSDAY, MARCH 15
12 a.m.: Valient Thorr
11 p.m. The Ringers
10 p.m. Big Bang
9 p.m.: Hello Stranger

FRIDAY, MARCH 16
12 a.m.: Oliver Future
11 p.m.: Dirty Sweet
10 p.m.: The Ruse
9 p.m. Stars of Track and Field
