Feb 26-April 10: Snow Patrol's Awards Nominations and U.S. Tour

Snow Patrol have been nominated for two Brit Awards including Best British Group and have also been short-listed for Best Single for ‘Chasing Cars’. The 2007 Awards ceremony, which is set to take place in London on February 14, will boast live performances from The Killers, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Snow Patrol. As well as the Best Single nomination, which will see the band face the public vote, against the likes of The Kooks, Razorlight and Take That, the band will face Muse, Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian and Razorlight in the category for Best British Group. The final category the patrol have been nominated in, is Best Album for the million selling ‘Eyes Open’. The band will be pitched up against Amy Winehouse, Arctic Monkeys, Lily Allen and Muse to battle it out for the converted Award, last year won by Coldplay’s ‘X&Y’.
‘Eyes Open’ has also been nominated as one of 12 Irish Albums of the year at 2006's Choice Music Prize. The award which is the Irish equivalent of the UK’s Mercury Music Prize, features stunning albums from artists new and establisted, including Duke Special, Director, The Divine Comedy and Republic Of Loose. The short list has been selected by a panel of 12 Irish music media professionals representing print, radio, online and TV. The overall Album of the Year will be selected by this very judging panel at the Choice Music Prize event at Vicar Street, Dublin on Wednesday. And last but not least, the lads have also been nominated for the ultimate accolade, a Grammy nomination for “Chasing Cars” in the Best Rock Song Category, winners will be announced February 11 in Los Angeles.
