Sept. 12-14: Get Tix Now for New York's Electronic Music + Innovation Festival

The Minitek—aka New York's
Electronic Music + Innovation Festival—wants you to think of it as different
from all the other festivals you know. Combining two aspects—electronic music
and innovation, 'natch—seems pretty straightforward at first, but Minitek also
has plans to explore innovation not only in respect to music but also to other
forms of art, design and technology.
For three days and three
nights, Minitek will bring together individuals, institutions and creative
companies that are pioneers in their respective areas and whose creations,
visions and inventions are shaping the future.
The music lineup includes
Richie Hawtin, Tiefschwarz, Audion (aka Matthew Dear), Troy Pierce, M.A.N.D.Y
and Monoblock, among others. But you'll find plenty of other projects you'll
find at Minitek, too, including the Roots interactive touch-interface
music-making project; the Extended Room "Speak My Language" exhibit;
Volume, which is an "illusionary extension of a physical architectural
space"; the Minitek Village with plenty of new products from technology
companies, fashion designers and record labels; and Minitek competitions and
podcasts. And there's even more, including green initiatives and
RFID-technology festival wristbands, which will act both as admission control
for the fest and cash/credit-loadable cashless payment vehicles.
The night venue will be
the Penn Plaza Pavilion at 7th Avenue in New York, with the day venue set to be
revealed shortly, so keep your eyes peeled for future updates and get your tix
and all the details now at www.residentadvisor.net. A Weekend Pass will be $80
plus fees, and a VIP Weekend Pass is $175 plus fees.
