BUY LOW, SELL HIGH
Two conditions that plague all musicians are how to get new gear as cheaply as possible and how to sell your old stuff for the most green that you can get. If this applies to you, then author Mark Abdelnour has you covered. His new book, Buying & Selling Music, Instruments, and Music Collectibles on eBay (Thompson/Course Technology), provides an insider perspective on researching products, making smart bids and selling musical equipment. WEBSITE OF THE MONTH
Opting for an animated space-station-type theme, John Digweed recently launched a full version of his official Website, www.johndigweed.com. The Entrance Hall includes news and tour info, and from there, you can venture to the Info Centre, Booking Office, Studio or Gallery. The most fun to be had is in the Studio, where you can mix your own track with various provided sounds and check out Digweed's radio mixes and charts. If you want some visual stimuli, move to the Gallery for photos, music videos and party footage.
HERE COME THE REISSUES
So what if you weren't old enough (or even born) to appreciate much of Brian Eno's early catalog? Now, you can enjoy eight of those early masterpieces as digitally remastered reissues out on Astralwerks; take your pick from the Early Works (including Here Come the Warm Jets) or Ambient Works (including Ambient 1: Music for Airports) collection. Thanks to Simon Heyworth and the best in Class A analog mastering gear and high-quality A/D conversion, each album has been transferred from the original masters — not re-EQ'd or otherwise altered. So go ahead: Give the gift of Eno.
