Philadelphia production duo the Maniac All-Stars win the Camp Bisco 8 Remix Contest and a chance to spin onstage at the music and arts festival July 16&ndash18 outside of Albany, N.Y.
Now in its eighth year, Camp Bisco, July 16–18 outside of Albany, N.Y., boasts a musical lineup including the Disco Biscuits, Nas & Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley, STS9, a DFA-curated Disco Tent, Dr. Dog, K'Naan and over 30 more acts.
The four-week remix contest—hosted in partnership with Sony Creative Software’s ACIDplanet.com and promoted with Penton Media, publisher of Remix, Mix and Electronic Musician—allowed aspiring DJ/producers from around the country to remix the Disco Biscuits, The Orb, Dr. Dog, Telepath and John Brown's Body.
The Maniac All-Stars' "Rebirth" remix of Telepath's song "Subterfuge" received top honors and currently sits at the top of the ACIDplanet.com charts. The Maniac All-Stars are brothers Antonio "DJ Satisfaction" and Dennis Gonzalez.
As the grand-prize winner, the Maniac All-Stars get the opportunity to perform during a Friday-afternoon set at Camp Bisco, scheduled between Planet Mu recording artist Starkey and Chicago DJ collective Orchard Lounge. Four other finalists will receive a prize pack including festival passes with backstage access, the newest version of Sony Creative Software's Acid Pro 7, Acid loop libraries and a one-year subscription to Electronic Musician magazine.
