Native Instruments has announced updates for Reaktor and Kore, bringing new features and compatibility to two of the company’s most popular products.
Now in version 5.1.2, this update for Reaktor 5 brings Universal Binary support, allowing users of Intel-based Mac computers to fully use the creative potential of Reaktor on their machines. Version 5.1.2 also features improved integration with NI's universal sound platform Kore, resulting in faster loading of Kore sounds based on Reaktor instruments and effects.
The 5.1.2 update for Windows and Mac is now available as a free download for all registered users of Reaktor 5 on the NI Website.
For installation on an Intel-based Mac, a Universal Binary license code can be purchased for $29 in the NI Online Shop. Customers who first registered Reaktor 5 after Sept. 12, 2006, are eligible for a free Universal Binary license code.

Additionally, NI announced Kore 1.1, an update for its Universal Sound Platform. The new version brings a wide range of enhancements, including support for the new SingleSound format, optimized integration with recently released NI software instruments, prelisten functionality, an additional selection of inspiring KoreSounds and the ability for the Kore software to operate without the hardware controller attached.
The SingleSound format complements the existing MultiSound format in Kore and optimizes handling of patches that only use a single instrument or effect. The format allows for sound categorization and attributes and is also used by Massive, Absynth 4, Battery 3 and FM8, maximizing integration and compatibility between Kore and individual instruments.
The new prelisten functionality in Kore makes browsing and evaluating sounds even more efficient, by allowing the auditioning of both SingleSounds and MultiSounds directly inside the sound browser with a single mouse click. Kore 1.1 also offers a selection of 55 additional MultiSounds that use the sonic capabilities of Massive, Absynth 4, Battery 3 and FM8.
Further improvements in Kore 1.1 include the addition of an External Sync function for external MIDI control, a new Add/Replace function for KoreSound editing and a large number of minor optimizations and fixes.

NI has also announced the availability of a demo version of Battery 3.
Battery 3 is a significant revision of the drum and percussion sampler, including features such as time-stretching and advanced loop capabilities, authentic "articulations," a powerful master-effects section and an integrated wave editor.
The Battery 3 demo version is now available as a free download for Windows and Mac on the NI Website. The demo includes a selection of six scaled-down drum kits taken from the Battery 3 factory library.
The demo version is based on the latest 3.0.1 version of Battery, which brings several enhancements and optimizations, and is now available as an update for registered users of Battery 3 on the NI Website.
