Get Your New Headphones From the Doctor

Jan 8, 2008 6:48 PM

He's reportedly got some of the best ears in hip-hop, and now Dr. Dre will be putting his ears into his own line of headphones. Teaming up with Interscope/A&M/Geffen head Jimmy Iovine and audio equipment manufacturer Monster, Dre is slated to release the headphones, which are tentatively being called "Beats by Dre," sometime this spring.

The headphones, designed to transmit audio much like studio producers such as Dre hear in when they're in the studio listening to high-end monitors, are said to use a new driver technology to expand the dynamic range of the headphones beyond what usual commercial headphones offer. The "Beats" are set to hit the market at around $400, which should include a carrying case and a specialized iPhone adapter.
