M-AUDIO CONECTIV WITH TORQ SHIPPING THIS WEEK

Oct 11, 2006 4:44 PM

Representatives of M-Audio reported at the 2006 AES show in San Francisco that the company's new Conectiv audio interface for DJs—which comes with the innovative new Torq DJ software—will be shipping this week for a retail price of $299. M-Audio was demonstrating Conectiv/Torq at AES, as well as at the Digidesign DigiWorld event, which coincided with AES.

Among Torq's more intriguing features is a 16-cell, tempo-synced sampler with no time limit for the samples. Each side of the Torq mixer has a slot for loading a VST effect, and you can record your sets with the integrated performance recorder. Torq also support ReWire, so you could route its output to any ReWire-compatible host DAW. Torq can access an iTunes library and supports MP3, AIFF, WAV, WMA and AAC audio. The Conectiv package includes two pieces of control vinyl and two control CDs, but you can also opt to control both song in the Torq mixer with one turntable or CD player.
