CD Review: Simian Mobile Disco, Fabriclive.41

It's unlikely anybody
could reproduce the fun, fractured mix James Ford and Jas Shaw concocted for
Fabric. Bobbing and weaving between pummeling beats ("Chasm"), acid
squelches and rarities from eccentrics like Moon Dog ("Suite
Equestria"), SMD delivers an organic, endearing set. Synthesized
Stravinsky covers meld into organ-propelled space disco ("The Don"),
and instead of stilted transitions, the fusion (and album) maintains a
brilliant, wacky strut throughout. Attack
Decay Sustain Release showcased pop craftsmanship; this mix sustains a
playful and eclectic afterparty vibe.
