CD Review: Median, Median's Relief
Oct 22, 2007 8:14 PM A.J. Woodson (Writer)
Hailing from the
N.C.-based hip-hop collective Justus League comes Median, a throwback to
hip-hop's golden era. With a debut disc worth the price of admission, Median
forgoes the ever-popular gangsta fantasy-driven hip-hop and delivers a blend of
personal experiences, rhymes and dope production from JL-affiliate, 9th Wonder
and others. From the Tribe Called Quest-like “Love Again” and the
thought-provoking, head-nodding "Powershift" to "Brenda's
Baby," which best displays his storytelling skills, Median delivers. A
straight, nonstop, push play and put the remote down affair.
