Your Participation Requested: Grammy Category - Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical
May 16, 2008 7:16 PM
In existence for 11 years, the Best Remixed Recording category numbers among its Grammy Award recipients Frankie Knuckles, Hex Hector, Benny Benassi and Louie Vega, to name a few. This category is intended to recognize those who take previously recorded material and add to or alter it in such a way as to create a new and unique performance. Remixes (singles/tracks) that have been released commercially or to clubs or radio in the United States for the first time during the Eligibility Year (Oct. 1 through Sept. 30) are eligible in this category.
To be eligible to submit, you must be a current Recording Academy member (you can join or renew your membership on Grammy.com) or a label registered with The Recording Academy (a simple process: just go to Grammy.com, click on The Recording Academy tab at the top, then Awards, then Media Company Registration and follow the instructions.) You will be notified when the Awards Entry Process opens.
Final nominations in this category are determined by Craft Nominating Committees formed in the Recording Academy Chapters around the country. To qualify for this committee, you must be a voting member of the Recording Academy in good standing, currently working as a remixer with at least six remix credits during the five years prior to serving on the committee. To preserve the integrity of these committees and prevent lobbying, the identity of all committee members is kept confidential and not disclosed by the Academy. If you are interested in being considered for a Craft Nominating Committee and have the time to serve, contact your local Chapter by May 27. You can find local Chapter information at Grammy.com.
