Aug 24: Mark DeNardo Live in Chicago
Aug 21, 2007 7:35 PM
Part of The Art of Play, the Chicago-wide celebration of toys, games, and the spirit of play that will run through Sept. 30 (courtesy of your friendly but intimidatingly named Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs), you'll be able to check out Brooklyn-based musician Mark DeNardo (of the Gamma Bros) performing his unique brand of music on laptop, GameBoy and guitar, accompanied by pixilated images from fellow Gamma Bros visual artist Pixeljam. Noted local electronic music performers, Liz Revision and Emulsion (of Ramp Chicago), will also DJ and play live throughout the evening, while full-screen imagery of video games and game culture will provided by visual artists Baseshot Scenario and 3pHaze.
The gamers-meet-musicians event is set for 7 p.m. at the Chicago Cultural Center's Cassidy Theater at 78 E. Washington St., and the show is free. That's right, free.
