Audio-Technica Introduces New Flagship Studio Headphones and Affordable Vocal Condenser Mic

At last week's Winter NAMM show in Anaheim, California, Audio-Technica introduced the new AT2010, a handheld vocal condenser mic. The mic has a cardiod pick-up pattern and requires phantom power. For a condenser, it can handle high sound pressure levels (SPLs) of up to 136 dB and has a flat frequency response of 40-20,000 Hz. Best of all Audio-Technica promises studio-quality sound for an MSRP of $169 ($99 estimated street price).
Audio-Technica also launched its new flagship studio headphones, the ATH-M50 for an MSRP of $199. Specifically intended for professional monitoring and mixing applications, the ATH-M50 headphones feature a collapsible design for easy portability and convenient storage. Employing Audio-Technica’s proprietary 45 mm large-aperture drivers with neodymium magnet systems and CCAW voice coils, the ATH-M50 headphones have very high SPL capabilities while delivering natural, accurate sound with deep resonating bass and high-frequency extension.
The ATH-M50 also features a closed-back cushioned earcup providing sound isolation in high-volume listening situations. The circumaural earpieces swivel a full 180 degrees. for easy one-ear monitoring. A coiled OFC litz wire cable at the left earpiece terminates to a gold-plated 1/8-inch connector with included screw-on 1/4-inch adapter.
