APOGEE INTRODUCES V-BUS, NEW ULTRALOW LATENCY AT 1.6 MS

Oct 17, 2006 2:16 PM

Apogee Electronics Corporation has announced V-Bus, a virtual busing technology for Symphony, the company's multichannel PCI audio card. Utilizing Apogee's fast Symphony driver, V-Bus provides unlimited routing possibilities across multiple applications in any Symphony-equipped G5 or Mac Pro.

V-Bus provides the ability to record bus outputs in Logic Pro, a feature long sought after by Logic users. Additionally, V-Bus enables audio routing between various Core Audio applications, such as iTunes and Final Cut Pro. With up to 32 buses per Symphony card, V-Bus offers zero latency performance with minimal processing power to ensure maximum audio performance.

Apogee also announced that the Symphony Card, when combined with Apple's Mac Pro desktop computer, achieves some of the lowest latency available in a native audio production system at 1.6 ms at 96k and some of the highest numbers in channel count and plug-in performance.

The Symphony PCI Express card connects Apogee's X-Series and Rosetta Series converters to Apple's Mac Pro. This unity takes advantage of the speed of the new Intel-based Macs and Apogee's Symphony driver.
