Manifesto: “Retaining our independence while remaining successful in this music business, while — obviously — continuing to release the finest music,” says Matt Whittington, label manager.
A&R Philosophy: “The overriding quality we look for in our artists is an organic feel from their music,” Whittington says. “True, we are a dance/electronic label, but precious little of our music sounds electronic in that cold, mechanized way that many people think all electronic music sounds. There is a warmth to our records that sets us apart from the rest.”
Upcoming: ESL Remixed, which is the label's 100th release and features remixes of ESL tracks from Louie Vega, Calexico, Medeski Martin and Wood, Fort Knox Five, Quantic and many more; a new Thunderball album, Cinescope; and a reissue of Nickodemus' debut album Endangered Species.
