In March, Remix teamed up with its sister publications, Mix and Electronic Musician, to host the first annual Musician's Hotel in conjunction with South by Southwest in Austin, Texas. The event took place at the Austin Hilton and included hands-on product demos with Apple, Mackie, Shure, M-Audio, Digidesign, Numark, Alesis, Akai and Guitar Center. Editors from each magazine also hosted Q&A sessions with a number of artists, engineers and producers, including Bob Ludwig and Kinky. The SXSW festival was also in full swing, and following the Musician's Hotel each night, attendees were able to catch live performances from acts such as Bloc Party, LCD Soundsystem, the Album Leaf, D:Fuse and dozens of others.
