REMIX HOTEL

Amid all the usual half-nude hoochies, Hummers and fashionistas, Miami encountered something new during the Winter Music Conference — the Remix Hotel — which featured three days of total technology immersion (March 19-21) at the Ritz Plaza in South Beach. With nearly 2,000 preregistered attendees, the Remix Hotel saw a steady stream of DJs, bedroom producers, seasoned professionals and fans eager to get the goods on the latest and greatest from Digidesign, M-Audio, Stanton, Emagic, Cakewalk, Propellerhead, Ableton, Arkaos DJ and others.
But the manufacturers didn't expect attendees to just take their word for the greatness of their products; rather, they enlisted a little help from some esteemed guests. BT, the Crystal Method, Josh Wink, King Britt, Bad Boy Bill, Faust & Shortee, DJ Craze and others provided testimonials, how-to's and hands-on demonstrations. Not surprisingly, many attendees returned for the full three days.
If you missed out on this opportunity, no worries: The Remix Hotel will be making appearances at other events and festivals throughout the year. Be sure to check www.remixmag.com for updates.
