NEW KID IN TOWN

There's a first time for everything, including a Remix Hotel pit stop in Hotlanta. Remix paired up with the Billboard R&B Hip Hop Conference & Awards at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel in Atlanta September 6-8 for another installment of music-gear fantasies and celebrity-producer secrets.
Highlights included the awesome “Producers Technology Lounge” panel, featuring moderator Hank Shocklee (producer/founder of Public Enemy) and panelists Chuck D (Public Enemy), Diamond D (Too Short, Outkast, Mos Def), Lroc (Mariah Carey, Usher, Nelly), No I.D. (Common, Jermaine Dupri, Kanye West), Chuckey Charles (Dallas Austin, Ginuwine, Blaque), Manuel Seal (Destiny's Child, Alicia Keys, Mary J. Blige) and Isaac Hayes III (Lil' Scrappy, Young Buck, Kurupt). Check out video of the panel — thanks to the Ex'pression Center for New Media — at remixhotel.com; just click on “Remix Hotel TV.”
In addition to a handful of panels sponsored by Shocklee Innertainment and Satellite Atlanta (check out a podcast of the Satellite “State of the Industry” panel at remixhotel.com), Roland, Edirol, Rane, Serato and Stanton ran nonstop demos of gear. And Euphonix, GC Pro, Pioneer, Galbanum, Access and E-mu were all on hand with gear galore. To top it all off, the man with the crown and the clock necklace himself, Flava Flav, even stopped by to say “what up?” to Remix. Next stop, L.A.!
