THE DEVIL WEARS MOTOROLA

Nov 1, 2006 12:00 PM, Markkus Rovito

Bling-a-ling-a-ling! Your fashion accessory is ringing. Finally, there is a mobile phone for people who are pretty sure that there's more to life than being really, really ridiculously good looking: You also have to accessorize. The Motorola Razr V3i was already one of the hottest phones around, with its signature thin and sleek design, 1.2-megapixel camera and digital music playback from a removable Micro SD card. Now, the special-edition Motorazr V3i Dolce & Gabbana ($599.99; www.mygoldrazr.com) takes it a few steps further. First of all, it's gold, people! Not literally, of course, but its anodized aluminum casing is colored gold with shiny silver trimmings. And what else do you get for the extra $300 above the regular V3i? Two letters: D&G. Italian designer Dolce & Gabbana plasters its initials on the phone, its display screens, a lanyard with a Dolce & Gabbana charm and the phone's matching optional accessories: a Bluetooth headset, wired stereo headphones with remote and a gold eel-skin carrying case. That may seem like a high markup for two little letters, but you can't strike your best Derek Zoolander pose with a regular Razr V3i. Try it; it won't work.

The Motorazr V3i DG is available now online or at select Bloomingdales, Dolce & Gabbana boutiques, Saks Fifth Avenue and Barneys stores, where you're sure to receive no attitude at all from the help while you're choosing the phone's free personalized engraving.
