CITY OF SIN STUDIOS

Feb 1, 2006 12:00 PM, Sarah Jones

Yeah, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. But the word is definitely out about the grand opening bash for the Studio At The Palms, the latest addition to owner George Maloof's entertainment empire that's home to Real World Las Vegas, Celebrity Poker Showdown and the hippest nightspots in town.

The VIP event was held December 5 in the hotel's adjacent 10,000-square-foot ultraluxe Hardwood Suite, where DJ Mark Ronson spun hip-hop for 400 music-industry players and friends, including Carmen Electra, Hulk Hogan, *NSYNC's Lance Bass and dozens of producers, mixers and label execs, who all enjoyed sushi and custom cigars between turns shooting hoops in the master suite's basketball court.

Despite the fun factor, though, this studio is all business. Maloof and partner (and former Britney Spears manager) Larry Rudolph tapped the talents of design guru Francis Manzella to plan and build an 8,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility, and New York studio heavyweight Zoe Thrall to run the show, with staff engineers imported from the Big Apple. Maloof is confident that with the studio's sought-after recording team and top-notch technology, the possibilities are endless in a city poised to take entertainment to the next level. “I really believe that Las Vegas is just right on the explosion of more venues, more music, more opportunities” he says. “I think the music scene is taking off, and I think it's important to have a facility like ours that will be part of that whole kind of experience.”
