New Gear: Boss VE-20 Vocal Performer

Sep 17, 2009 12:52 PM, By Asher Fulero

VOCAL PROCESSING STOMPBOX

Pedals aren't just for instrumentalists anymore; more and more often, vocalists are using effects both standard and extreme to convey their ideas, and Boss is there to make it easy and portable with its new VE-20 Vocal Performer.

The simple twin-pedal design makes it easy to add pro-sounding processing to vocals of all types, from singing and speaking to MC'ing and Beatboxing. Available effects include lush doubling, harmonizing and reverb/delay, as well as pitch correction and limiting, and weirder FX like chromatic, radio, strobe and distortion.

The onboard Phrase Looper makes it easy to do quick vocal layering or create backups on the fly. The stereo XLR outputs make it easy to plug into the stage without needing a DI, and having both 1/4-inch and XLR inputs help it integrate into the studio setting. Also, like other pedals, the VE-20 is battery-powered, able to run for hours on six AAs.

So stick in on your pedalboard, velcro it to your belt or mount it in your studio rack; either way, the VE-20 is ready to bring you fast and easy vocal processing wherever you are.
