Woodstock Music Festival no longer exists. It was an event that took place between the 15th and the 18th of August, 1969 in Bethel, New York. Although more popularly known as Woodstock Music Festival, the musical event was also called ‘Aquarian Music Festival’ or the ‘Bethel Rock Festival”. This musical event which took place in a space of three days was one of the most successful of its time. It attracted up to 400, 000 people and had Max Yasgur’s dairy farm play host to it.
The Woodstock Music Festival played host to 32 artistes and is always considered a major event in American music history.
Woodstock Music Festival did not become a success overnight. The level of success that it is associated with is a lot because of those that were in charge of organizing it. Some of the names at the fore-front of organizing this event are Artie Kornfeld, Michael Lang, John P. Roberts, and Joel Rosenman. The project was financed by Rosenman and Roberts. While Rosenman and Roberts where in charge of finances, Lang was in charge of promotions as he had already acquired a level of experience as a promoter due to the fact that he played a major role in the organization of the Miami Pop Festival.
Although the major aim of organizing Woodstock Music Festival was to make some profit, this event ended up being free. This happened because the festival attracted a lot more people than the organizers had earlier prepared for.
