Image Entertainment and Paladin Entertainment, in association with QD3 entertainment, have announced the DVD release of InfamyA Graffiti Film, an intense journey into the dangerous lives and obsessed minds of six of America's most prolific graffiti artists.
Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Doug Pray (Hype!, Scratch) who teamed up with writer, publisher and graffiti guru Roger Gastman, the movie takes you deep into the world of street writers Saber (Los Angeles), Toomer (Los Angeles), Jase (Baltimore), Claw (NYC), Earsnot (NYC) and Enem (Philadelphia).
With brutal honesty, humor and charisma, these artists reveal why they are so willing to risk everything to spray paint their surroundings with throw-ups and full-color murals. The movie is available only on DVD for a suggested retail price of $19.99 (running time: 90:53).
From the streets of the South Bronx to the solitude of a San Francisco tunnel, from high atop a Hollywood billboard to North Philadelphia for a lesson in "Philly handstyles," from Mexico to a Cleveland freight train yard, Infamy doesn't analyze or glorify graffiti; it takes you there and brings it to life. Infamy offers a voyeuristic look into the lives of these graffiti artists, allowing you to peer into their world and learn more than just their street life. In addition to the artists, Joe "The Graffiti Guerrilla" Connolly is featured, a notorious "buffer" who paints out graffiti on his neighborhood's walls with a vengeance matched only by those who vandalized them. Infamy had its world premiere in New York City as a part of RESfest before going on to play in over 35 cities around the world.
The Infamy DVD also has over 35 minutes of original bonus features, including seven fully edited sequences that further expand on the themes within the film itself. Chapters include an exploration of the state of graffiti culture today and the stereotypes associated with the art form, a photographic tour of graffiti by the writers in the movie and further exploration of the stories and ideas of Saber, Enem and Joe Connolly, among others.
