Korg PadKontrol MIDI Studio Controller

Rather than simply place some trigger pads on a MIDI controller, Korg set out to make the most versatile and expressive pad controller possible with its PadKontrol. Accompanying the 16 pressure-sensitive, illuminated pads are two assignable MIDI knobs, a foot pedal input and an assignable x-y touchpad with dedicated buttons for playing natural-sounding flams and rolls on percussion sounds. Although perfect for programming beats, the PadKontrol can also be used for controlling plug-in instruments and effects, triggering loops and video clips or even acting as transport controls for DAW software.

About the audio clips:
While reviewing it for the April 2006 issue, Remix Technology Editor Markkus Rovito recorded these beats using the PadKontrol. The first clip demonstrates the Roll function of the x-y touchpad, and the second clip demonstrates the Flam function, as well as the affect the pressure-sensitive pads on sound volume.
