The dance sounds of the French season
France's reigning champion of the dancefloor was born out of a fashion house and it approaches its musical offerings with the same surprise-embracing aesthetic and earned a tastemaking reputation by helping break acts like Simian Mobile Disco, Klaxons and Digitalism. This time out, songs like A-Trak's "Say Whoa" get at France's ongoing filter obsession, but most of this comp's titular melodies are synthpop-derived with Lo-Fi-Fink's "Want U" and Hot Chip's remix of Grovesnor's "Drive Your Car" sure to charm the party. This mix of styles from established heavyweights and unheralded newcomers never stops moving.—Noah Levine [3.5 out of 5 stars]
