TuneCore Launches Physical Distribution Program

TuneCore is set to launch
a new pilot program on April 1 offering physical distribution, extending its
ability to help DIY musicians and established names alike. Musicians will now
be able to sell their music worldwide, via the digital download stores and
physically.
For all participating customers,
TuneCore will provide a flash-based mini-store that can be posted on the
artist's Website, blog or other places online. Customers will pay a flat
up-front fee for the first year of distribution, with TuneCore preparing an
online store to specific artist requests; the artist can sell their album for
any price they like, fans place orders through the mini-store and the orders
are processed and shipped by TuneCore.
One-hundred percent of
sales go directly to the customers TuneCore account, where it can be withdrawn
24/7, just like digital sales. You'll be in good company, too, as the likes of
Keith Richards, Bjork, Jay-Z and Public Enemy are among the thousands using the
TuneCore digital download stores. TuneCore customers reportedly earned
themselves $718,398 in December of 2007. Not bad.
