MAY 26: AMON TOBIN, CUT CHEMIST, MORE REMIX RUSSIAN MUSIC

May 22, 2007 3:34 PM

In 1936 Russia, artists had a lot more to fear than bad reviews. After Shostakovich was denounced in the Soviet newspaper Pravda, a brutal struggle between art and tyranny began. Through concerts, film screenings and discussions of art & architecture, you are invited to discover the vibrant artistry from that hostile time.

An extraordinary lineup of DJs, VJs, artists, and live musicians dissect the sounds, sights, and philosophies of the Stalinist-era Soviet Union. These progressive artists, listed below, will remix the music of Shostakovich, Prokofiev and Mosolov, with visuals from classic Russian films.

Check out this all-night event on Saturday, May 26 at Walt Disney Concert Hall, Los Angeles CA. The event starts at 10 p.m. and features:

Amon Tobin
