Plugging the Best in Indie Music

The Plug Independent Music
Awards—whose purpose is said to "highlight outstanding accomplishments
within the independent music community"—has just announced the nominees
for the 2008 awards.
This year's selections
range across 30 categories and cover indie rock, electronic, Americana, metal,
hip-hop and avant releases, along with label, live music venue, festival and
more. Just a few of the nominees include Battles, Radiohead, Of Montreal (who
lead the pack with seven nominations), Arcade Fire, The National, Band of
Horses, Menomena and Beirut.

and place your votes (in both General and Obsessive categories for the music
fanatics among us) at www.plugawards.com. Voting will continue until Feb. 8,
2008, and the winners will be announced at the awards ceremony and concert
Thursday, March 6, 2008 in New York City.
