Think You've Got What It Takes to Make an UNKLE Video?
Dec 11, 2007 10:08 PM
Surrender All, the label
behind UNKLE's latest album, War Stories,
has teamed up with talent-spotting network Filmaka.com and Canon to offer an
opportunity for aspiring young filmmakers. UNKLE has a long history of
collaborating with cutting-edge film directors and giving them complete
creative freedom; the results have included such cool minifilms as Rabbit in the Headlights by Jonathan
Glazer and the recent Burn My Shadow
vid by Miguel Sapochnik.
Filmmakers around the
globe are now being invited to pitch for the chance to direct the official
music video for "Restless." Canon high-def camera packages and
budgets are already in place to aid the winners in this exciting venture.
Applicants have until Dec. 17 to enter their ideas (so move fast!), after which
a panel of four will judge the pitches. The winner will be commissioned to make
the video for "Restless," complete with budget, and other
video-making opportunities may also be awarded.
To enter, applicants must
submit up to 2 minutes of any footage of their choice to give the judges a
sense of their directing style and ideas. This footage can be created for the
music or applicants can submit archive material. To accompany the footage, they
must submit a pitch document detailing their idea for the "Restless"
video. All entrants will receive a free download of "Restless," but
they must be members of Filmaka to enter ($5 to sign up). For further
information on the contest, visit www.filmaka.com/unkle. And for more info on
UNKLE the band, check out www.unkle.com and www.myspace.com/unkle.
