Astralwerks has announced a U.S. tour for labelmates Sondre Lerche and Willy Mason. The tour kicks off on March 14 in New Orleans.
Sondre Lerche's fourth full-length album, Phantom Punch, is out now. Recorded with The Faces Down and produced by Tony Hoffer, Phantom Punch delivers music brimming with unrestrained youthful energy. Despite many of the tracks having been recorded live in only one take, each of the 11 songs feature concise solos and vigorous ensemble playing. Phantom Punch is sparked by Lerche's initial musical exposure, paying tribute to a wide range of sounds anywhere from '80s pop to Brazilian music.
Willy Mason's sophomore album, If the Ocean Gets Rough, is filled with Mason's best songs to date, some immediately direct, others more subtle and evocative. With more developed and ambitious songwriting and instrumentation, Mason joins personal tales with socio-cultural commentary. The album was recorded mostly in North Brookfield, Mass. at Long View Farm, a studio more notable for its livestock than its acoustics. Mason invited friends and family to hang out, bring instruments, cook meals, ride horses, shoot pool and on occasion he had to throw them all out of the studio so he could concentrate and get some work done. He reportedly didn't put his shoes on for two weeks.
Mason will be supporting Sondre Lerche on the following dates:
