CD Review: Alla, Es Tiempo
Jun 10, 2008 3:24 PM Noah Levine (Writer)
Stepping away from a
synthesized past as Defender, Jorge Ledezma, his brother Angel and Lupe
Martinez spent four years embracing their Mexican heritage and expanding their
musical reach to craft this labor of love that embraces dreamy Latin rhythms,
atmospheric funk, tropical jazz and lounge-y trip-hop. Working on their own
dime in studios across the globe, Jorge's grand compositions came together with
assists from a few big names (Patrik Bartosch, Colin Studybaker). Lupe's vocals
work as a lead on "Un Pedazo" and play a rhythmic role on "Tu y
Yo," making Alla's debut cultural and global.
