CD Review: Sunburned Hand of the Man, Fire Escape

The imagery of Fire Escape is terrifying and beautiful.
At times, scratches and blips sound like a robot trying Morse code, while
drawn-out horns sound like whales mating on acid ("Nice Butterfly
Mask"). The experimental parts are about as visceral and random as a David
Lynch film, mainly the 15 minutes of weirdness that is "The Wind Has
Ears." The one constant is drummer John Moloney, whose part hip-hop/part
found-instrument jam beats ("The Parakeet Beat") are one place to
find solace. Without them, you might be completely lost, which may be the goal.
