HOTLANTA SHOWCASES HIP-HOP FILMMAKING

Start making those Hotlanta travel plans now! Aug. 24-26 has been selected as the weekend for the Third Annual Atlanta Hip-Hop Film Festival (otherwise known to those in the know as the AHFF). Two dozen submissions have been tagged for screening Friday through Sunday, including the world premiere of Stomping Grounds, the story of pioneering MC Biz Markie.
Other films set for the AHFF screens include:
• Biggie Smalls—Bigger Than Life
• WU: The Story of the Wu Tang Clan
• Counting Headz—South Afrika's Sistaz in Hip-Hop
• Hiphopistan—Representing Locality in a Global City
• Lady Beatmakers Vol. 1
• Turn Off Channel Zero, a film that wants to "kick the hell out of the creators of negative images."
