WILLIAM ORBIT

Jan 1, 2006 12:00 PM, Justin Kleinfeld

In the world of electronic and dance music, there is little that William Orbit hasn't accomplished. He founded the influential acid-house label Guerilla Records and ambient project Strange Cargo; remixed Sting, Prince and Erasure; released the classical tribute Pieces in a Modern Style (Maverick, 2000); and most famously produced Madonna's 1998 Grammy Award — winning album Ray of Light (Warner Bros.). In February, Orbit returns with Hello Waveforms (Sanctuary), a CD that blends together downtempo electronics with pop and features guests including The Sugababes and Kenna. However, before you get too settled in with Hello Waveforms, Orbit has set spring 2006 for a follow-up that will feature Beck among a number of different collaborators.
