GETTING HOT WITH HAWTIN

On Oct. 12, the prize of the evening's entertainment was at the end of the long, narrow Groovejet club in Manhattan. If you could make it to the small dancefloor in the back, you could be up close and personal with the towhead-blond Richie Hawtin (who knew this former baldy had such beautiful hair?) spinning an eclectic but very danceable set. But to get back to the dancing action, you had to endure a near impenetrable blockade of heat. Lack of ventilation and cramped-together-bodies aside, the Remix Hotel NYC wrap party was the perfect ending to the three-day event. And it was well worth the trouble trying to carve out your own spot on the dark, sweaty floor. Oddly enough, the party rocked so hard that the club closed its doors for good the very next day. Maybe it wasn't Remix and Hawtin's doing, but talk about going out with a bang!
