Style: Techno, “elektronics”

Established: BPitch Control has been introducing diversity to the club society of Berlin since 1997. The label, created by Ellen Allien, tries to split the technoid-electronic microcosmos of the capital city with the function of being a platform for upcoming artists.

Artists: Ellen Allien, Ellen Allien & Apparat, Tomas Andersson, Damero, Feadz, Sascha Funke, Paul Kalkbrenner, Kiki, Ben Klock, Larsson, Moderat, Modeselektor, Smash TV, Timtim, Zander VT

Essential Listening: Ellen Allien, Data Romance (2000); Ellen Allien, Stadtkind (2001); Sascha Funke, Bravo (2004); Tomas Andersson, Washing Up (feat. Tiga Remix) (2005); Ellen Allien & Apparat, Orchestra of Bubbles (2006); Various Artists, Boogy Bytes Vol.1 Mixed by Kiki (2006); Various Artists, Boogy Bytes Vol.2, Mixed by Sascha Funke (2006); Modeselektor, Happy Birthday (2007); Various Artists, Boogy Bytes Vol.3 Mixed by Modeselektor (2007)

Manifesto: “Berlin is growing from the important role as one of the cities where techno has been at home for the last 15 years,” Allien says. “Consequently, BPitch Control puts this into practice and leaves its unmistakable marks on techno, hence ‘made in Berlin.’ Musically, BPitch Control is not only defined by techno; it is a wide concept including self-organized parties on a regular basis, an open-content label, visual implementation and the successful move to keep the material production under our own direction. BPitch Control considers itself a channel where the collective is the priority, and the ideas of every individual have space. We romp about in the vast plane of electronic music — we just don't get stuck on one style.”

A&R Philosophy: “We accept demos and look out for artists who are capable of development and focus on modern electronic dance music,” Allien says.

Upcoming: Early 2008 will see releases from Ellen Allien, Sol (2008); Sascha Funke, Mango (2008); and Various Artists, Boogy Bytes Vol. 4 Mixed by Ellen Allien (2008). Sascha Funke will tour in February 2008, and Ellen Allien will tour in March and May, 2008. Fall 2008 will see releases from Telefon Tel Aviv, Moderat (aka Apparat & Modeselektor) and Kiki.
