RIP Disco D

Jan 24, 2007 2:16 PM

To the dismay of the Remix staff, it was reported that producer and DJ Disco D, aka David Shayman, committed suicide yesterday. According to MTV, the 26-year-old had been diagnosed as bipolar and suffered from depression.

In addition to pioneering the ghetto-tech genre, Disco D produced tracks for 50 Cent, Nina Sky, Trick Daddy and AZ. Most recently, D founded the Gringo Louco label to pursue producing Brazilian music.

Remix offers its condolences to Disco D's friends and family. For more on D, you can read the Remix July 2003 "Shop.Talk." article here or go to his site, discod.com.
